The Story Behind the Surface
Lungarno basically started out because of a simple, incredibly annoying frustration: tile that looks absolutely stunning inside a fancy showroom but completely falls flat everywhere else. It’s the worst when that happens. So, we set out to do something totally different—creating ceramic and tile collections that actually hold their own in real, chaotic rooms, under real light, with real life happening all around them every day.
The name itself actually comes from the lungarni—those gorgeous riverside walkways lining the Arno in Florence. Over there, the architecture isn’t aggressively trying to impress you or show off. It just . . . does. That exact same quiet restraint runs through everything we design: patterns with actual purpose, finishes that age honestly over time, and colorways pulled from real places where beauty isn’t manufactured by a machine but inherited naturally. Italy is just built different.
We partner directly with skilled ceramicists who treat the craft exactly like it deserves to be treated.
